Children's FeetWarts are a common nuisance throughout the population—perhaps 3 in 4 Americans will develop at least one, at least once in their lives—but kids in particular are wart magnets. It’s not really surprising: kids are more likely to expose themselves to the viruses that cause plantar warts in the first place, and their underdeveloped immune systems are less up to the challenge of fighting them up.

Plantar Wart Removal

The good news is that warts are usually pretty harmless, and may even disappear on their own in time (though it may take a year or two). However, they may cause your child embarrassment, and can even be painful if located on a weight-bearing part of the sole. If a foot wart (plantar wart) is causing your child discomfort—physical or emotional—we encourage you to take them to Dr. Corey Fox at Massapequa Podiatry Associates for wart removal.

Traditional wart removal methods use a peeling medication (such as salicylic acid) and/or cryotherapy via the application of a super-cooled fluid (often liquid nitrogen), to kill and remove top layers of skin, generally over the course of 2-3 appointments. While these remain time-tested, generally safe procedures, new innovations in wart treatment offer better more consistent results.

CryoPen Therapy for Wart Treatments

At our office, we proudly offer CryoPen therapy. The effect is similar to traditional cryotherapy, but it uses a technologically advanced linear compression cooling technique instead of directly applying super-cooled liquids of gasses to the skin. That means we don’t have to handle any potentially dangerous materials, and the cryotherapy can be more precisely targeted to the wart itself, yielding faster, more convenient, and more reliable treatment.

At Massapequa Podiatry Associates, part of our mission is to bring the most advanced techniques and state-of-the-art technologies in podiatric medicine today to our practice, ensuring that Long Island residents have easy access to the best possible care for their foot and ankle conditions—right down to the warts on your little one’s feet.
